Goldmyer Hot Springs
North Bend, WA

GPS: 47.484N  121.391W

Goldmyer Hot Springs is on privately-owned land which is carefully controlled.  In fact, your best bet for continuing usage is to become a member of the hard-working, non-profit group that owns it, Northwest Wilderness Programs in Seattle.  Another way is to contact the organization and make a reservation which will be honored only on a space-available basis.
Next, considering you are either a member or have permission to visit, you are faced with a twenty-six-mile rugged drive into the hot springs that is best done in a four-wheel-drive vehicle.  At the end of the drive, it is only a short hike to the hot springs.  But there is a river to cross that may be hazardous during the spring runoff or following a heavy rain.
But all that effort and torturous driving is worthwhile, for Goldmyer is a remote and serene hot springs, unmatched in the Northwest.  The pristine wilderness area is carefully preserved by Northwest Wilderness Programs which has a year-around caretaker living on the site.  The hot springs, which is near the caretaker's cabin, begins in a cave where you can soak in quite hot temperatures while gazing out at the fresh green forest.
If that's too hot, one can move just outside the cave where the mineral water spills down into nicely-sized  pond of about 104 degrees temperature.  Another nearby pool has even cooler water.  Goldmyer, at 1,800 feet elevation, is open year around.  Bathing suits are optional.
Directions:  Goldmyer Hot Springs is owned and operated by Northwest Wilderness Programs, 202 N. 85th St., Seattle, WA 98103; phone (206)789-5631.  They will mail a brochure on the hot springs upon request.  The directions to the spring are only given to members and visitors with a reservation.
Services:  North Bend, further east on Interstate 90, is the nearest town of any size for groceries, restaurants, etc.  However, Ken's Truck Stop, near the Goldmyer Road, offers gasoline food, and overnight accommodations.  There are several excellent camp spots along the road to Goldmyer, however you must go approx. 11 miles in to the point you reach Forest Service property.
