Meager Creek Hotsprings
Pemberton, BC
To reach Meager creek hot springs I have to assume you know where the ski
resort of Whistler is. After Whistler heading north on Hwy. 99 you will come
to the town of Pemberton. At the T junction of Pemberton you have to turn
left at the Petro-Can gas station and head into Pemberton proper, over the
railway tracks and into town. Here you will find another T junction with an
ESSO gas station on the left side a Deli on the right and a bank straight
ahead. This is where you Zero your Odometer.
Services: Camping at the Campground is $10/night which
includes one person access to Meager hot springs. If you have others with
you they will still have to pay for hot spring access $5/day.
Directions: Turn right at the ESSO station (last chance for
gas) and follow the paved road for 22 km. (Part way along this road you will
come to a intersection, t junction again, with a school on the left, turn
left here). This 22 km. stretch is in the Pemberton valley famous for it's
seed potatoes. At the 22 km. point you should happen upon a small sign on
the right prompting you to turn right for Bralorne, Goldbridge and Meager
creek H/s. (There is a large green electrical box on the left). Turning
right here you will soon cross a bridge over the Lillooett river(1 km.),
shortly the road turns to dirt and you begin your 40 km. of dirt road travel
(zero odometer again). At 8.5 km. into the dirt road you come to a fork in
the road, this is the turn off for Bralorne/Gold Bridge. Keep to the left
for Meager ck. H/s. Some 26 km. further up this road you will come to the
Upper Lillooett River Forestry Campsite, about 45 minutes from the fork in
the road. A further .07 klm. from the campground is the left turn and final
stretch to Meager H/s. You now have 7 bumpy km. to go to reach Meager H/s.
Being stopped at the bridge over Upper Lilloett river to pay the fee $5/day
use, per person. If they don't get you here they will find you at the hot
springs.
Notes: As of this date(May 05/04) the bridge over Meager Creek
is out, washed away. The provincial forestry has no plans of funding to
repair/replace the bridge. Only way is if the Govt. the Geothermal research
group and the logging companies can share in the costs.
